Sick Sick

Must have caught a cold day before but am well on my way to recovery.

Last night was one of the most interesting sick nights i ever had though. I imagined that i was a postman who could move super fast and see a grid of the city in my brain. Then i overlaid the grid with glowing blue lines. What the hell?!

hahaha
suddenly i had a supremely more efficient way to deliver mail.

Anyway, there is more. Having been raeding the book "Terminal Man" by MC, i started to imagine that machines were taking over me!! Much like the main character in the book. And indeed, machines ARE taking over our lives. Alarm clocks control how much we sleep, cars force us to drive them around....

ok ok, it is obvious that i am not fully well yet so i shall leave it before i get reported to woodbridge

First Job Interview

Been quite a while since i've written. Basically, nothing too exciting is happening at the moment. Besides, if i were to keep gushing on and on about J, you people will just get totally nauseated.

Today, i had my first and second job interviews ever. But before i got to the first, i already had a great trial!

When is it time to stop taking cabs?
1) You leave the cab being more sweaty than you entered it (air con not working properly?!)
2) You get out of the cab ready to puke. Really jeibei man, ride horse, in english. The car was jerking and jerking. If i can get car sick, the driver must be REALLY BAD!
3) The cab driver turns around and faces you when he talks to you, even when the cab is moving in traffic!! I know we've been told since young to look at the person when he/she is talking to you, but really...!

When all the above happens, any nervousness associated with going for a first interview just evaporated. I mean, could it possibly be worse?

Was supposed to meet XXX at Han's at Great Eastern but was early so i had a slice of black forest cake and a honeydew with milk smoothie. It was only after drinking the smoothie that i thought that might not have been such a good idea. :P Thankfully, there was no throughflow of output!

The interview was fine, more like a powerpoint presentation by the guy about the merits of the profession and benefits of the job. You can tell he is the sales king and he is. Of course Rach had great timing again. Called while i was in the "interview". Haha, sometimes she just calls at the most inopportune moments :P But this time, your timing was impeccable! By the time u called, i'd had just about enough with the guy going on and on about how noble the profession is. His powerpoint prez was pretty impressive, lots of nice pictures, like a colouring book! Also, had a bit of academic research thrown in as well. Like how people are Employed, Self Employed, Business owner, Investor.

He was obviously angling for me to say i wanted to be a business owner but being the risk averse person that i am, i said i wanted to be employed first. You could see the sun go down then. Anyway, he went on to comment on my resume and asked what i wanted to do etc etc. Then said something about how being the risk adverse person that i am, i will not eventually open my own business or work in a vc firm etc. He didn't seem to grasp that there is stupid risk, risk and calculated risks. Whatever.

Have to say their proggy for training is quite comprehensive but really, i don't want to spend the next 3 years in formal learning again! Enough!

Second interview was similar, this time at Paya Lebar! Never been there before but heck, there is a first for everything. Not as far as i thought (i thought paya lebar = pasir ris). Actually, anything east of bugis may as well be pasir ris for me. Anyway, the guy was pretty friendly but it was the same thing and i had already heard enough in the first one. So i said my goodbyes pronto and have decided not to release my resume to anymore "Business Development" or "Financial Planner" type things.

Oh oh, of course i had to dress the part of a working adult so black pants and big whie shirt with cuff links and tie. Felt like a total clown. Make that a totally warm and miserable clown! Now i know why office buildings seem to have their AC turned to overdrive.
